A notified station is a railway station that the Indian government has declared for the quick removal of goods sent by train. Generally in these stations traffic is heavy but room in parcel office is less.

Important Subpart of Section 2 in The Railways Act, 1989

(11) “demurrage” means the charge levied for the detention of any rolling stock after the expiry of free time, if any, allowed for such detention;

(23)“luggage” means the goods of a passenger either carried by him in his charge or entrusted to a railway administration for carriage;

(27)“parcel” means goods entrusted to a railway administration for carriage by a passenger or a parcel train;

(41)“wharfage” means the charge levied on goods for not removing them from the railway after the expiry of the free time for such removal;

Section 2(41) of the Railways Act, 1989 defines “wharfage” as the charge levied on goods that are not removed from the railway after the free time for removal has expired.

The list of notified stations is declared under Section 89(1) of the Railways Act, 1989

The validity period of a list of notified railway stations is typically six months, but it can be extended in six-month increments:
