Carriage of charpoys.–

(1) Charpoys which are not in pieces will be carried only by passenger trains. Each
charpoy will be charged at 40 kg and the charge that will be levied will be as per ScaleL, Scale-R, Scale-P, and Scale S. No free allowance will be provided when a charpoy is
booked as luggage.
(2) If a charpoy which is not in pieces is found unbooked with a passenger in a
compartment, the following charges will be levied:
(a) If detected during the journey:
(i) For the distance it is carried without being detected: With the minimum
charge being INR 50, the charpoy will be charged at 6 times the rates
under Rule 517(1); and
(ii) For the distance it is carried after being detected till the destination
station, once the charpoy has been moved to the brakevan at the owner’s
responsibility: The charpoy will be charged as per the rates under Rule
517(1).
(a) If detected at the destination station: If the charpoy is found unbooked at the
destination, it will be charged at six times the rate shown under Rule 517 (1) for
the entire distance with the minimum charge being INR 50.
