The official language of the Union of India is Hindi in Devanagari script. However, the Constitution also allows for the use of English for official purposes, particularly for communication between the Union and states that haven’t adopted Hindi as their official language

Hindi Day is celebrated in India every year on September 14th. This day commemorates the adoption of Hindi as one of the official languages of India by the Constituent Assembly on September 14, 1949.

Part XVII of the Constitution of India, encompassing Articles 343 to 351, deals with the official language. This part outlines provisions for the official language of the Union, state languages, language of the judiciary, and texts of laws. It also covers special directives related to official languages

The Official Languages Act was passed on May 10, 1963.

Region B: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

The official language of Arunachal Pradesh is English. While a variety of languages and dialects are spoken in the state, English is the only official language recognized by the government

The Official Languages Act was first amended in 1967, leading to the enactment of the Official Languages (Amendment) Act 1967, which came into force on January 8, 1968. This amendment, specifically the Twenty-first Amendment, added Sindhi to the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

The Parliamentary Committee on Official Language was constituted in 1976.

It was established under Section 4 of the Official Languages Act, 1963. This committee is responsible for reviewing the progress made in the use of Hindi in official work of the Union. It comprises 30 members of Parliament, with 20 from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha.

Section 3 shall come into force on the 26th day of January, 1965 and the remaining provisions of this Act shall come into force on such date @ as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act.
